Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 19 Aug 2026
This policy applies to every ticket bought through Shindigs and forms part of our Terms & Conditions. It is written so you can find your situation quickly.
1. The short version
- Tickets are non-refundable. You cannot cancel a ticket because your plans changed, and there is no refund for not turning up.
- If the organizer cancels the event, you get a full refund — the ticket price and our platform fee. You do not have to ask; we start it ourselves.
- If an event is only rescheduled or changed and you opt out, the ticket price comes back but our platform fee, and any GST on it, do not. That fee is our charge for running the service, and the service was provided.
- Refunds are started within 3 working days and reach your account in 5–7 working days after that, to the same method you paid with.
- Can’t go? You may be able to transfer your ticket to someone else instead — see section 2.
2. When there is no refund
Once a ticket is bought, it is yours. We do not refund a ticket because:
- You changed your mind, or your plans changed.
- You could not attend, were unwell, or could not travel.
- You bought the wrong ticket type, the wrong quantity, or a ticket to the wrong date.
- You arrived after doors closed, or were refused entry for breaching the venue’s or organizer’s conditions — age, identification, intoxication, dress code, or conduct.
- You did not enjoy the event, or an artist on the bill did not appear as expected.
- Your ticket was checked in — by you or by anyone you shared it with.
This is standard for live events. The organizer commits to venue, staff and artist costs on the strength of the tickets sold, and cannot un-commit them at short notice.
What you can do instead: most tickets can be transferred once, from your tickets page, to anyone with a Shindigs account. The transfer reissues the ticket in their name and your copy stops working. It costs nothing. A ticket cannot be transferred after it has been checked in, after it has already been transferred once, or where the organizer has switched transfers off for that event.
3. When you do get a refund
A refund is due in these situations, and only these:
4. How much comes back
If an event is cancelled, you are refunded in full — the ticket price and the platform fee, with any GST charged on either. If instead the event is only rescheduled or materially changed and you choose not to go, we refund the ticket price; the platform fee, and GST charged on it, are not refunded, because the service of selling, issuing and supporting the ticket was delivered whether or not the event went ahead.
That fee is shown as its own line on the checkout page before you pay. It is typically a small percentage of the ticket price.
Where the fault is ours or the payment provider’s — a double charge, money taken with no ticket issued, or a total that did not match what you were shown — you get everything back, fees included.
Where an event carries a cover charge that the venue collects from you directly at the door, that money never passed through Shindigs and we cannot refund it. You would need to take that up with the venue.
5. How long it takes
There are two legs, and only the first is ours:
- We initiate the refund within 3 working days of the cancellation being confirmed, or of us accepting your request.
- Your bank or card issuer credits it in a further 5–7 working days. That part is out of our hands and varies by bank.
Refunds always go back to the payment method you used. We cannot pay a refund in cash, to a different card, or to a different account — the payment provider’s rules do not allow it and neither do ours.
If it has been more than 7 working days since we told you the refund was on its way, write to us with your order reference and we will chase it with the payment provider.
6. How to ask for one
Email support@shindigs.cc from the address you bought the ticket with, and include:
- Your order reference, from the confirmation email.
- The event name and date.
- What has gone wrong.
We acknowledge within 48 hours and tell you our decision within 30 days, usually much sooner. Where an event has been cancelled you do not need to write at all — the refund is started from our side.
If you think a payment on your statement is not yours, please contact us before raising a dispute with your bank. We can almost always resolve it faster, and a bank dispute freezes the order while it is investigated.
7. Rescheduled and postponed events
If an event moves to a new date or a new venue, your ticket stays valid for it automatically — you do not have to do anything, and you will be emailed the new details.
If the new date or place does not work for you, tell us within 7 days of the change being announced and we will refund the ticket price under section 4. After those 7 days the ticket is treated as a normal ticket to the new date, and section 2 applies to it.
If an event is postponed with no new date given, and no date has been announced within 90 days, you can ask for a refund of the ticket price at any point after that.
8. Failed payments and double charges
A ticket that has not reached your inbox is not a refund case. Tickets are digital and are issued the instant a payment succeeds — nothing is shipped and nothing can be lost in transit. If the email has not arrived, it can be resent to you free of charge, and it is already in your ticket wallet if you bought while signed in. How delivery works, and what to do when it appears to have failed, is set out in section 6 of our Terms.
If a payment fails, no money should leave your account. Some banks briefly hold the amount and release it themselves, usually within 5–7 working days; that is a hold, not a charge, and there is nothing for us to refund.
If money genuinely left your account and no ticket arrived, write to us with the amount, the date and the last four digits of the card or the UPI reference. We check it against the payment provider’s record and either issue your ticket or refund you in full, whichever you prefer.
Our system also checks for payments it may have missed and completes or refunds them automatically, so in many cases this resolves itself before you write.
9. Who actually owes you the money
Shindigs is a marketplace — the organizer is the seller of the ticket, and the money for the ticket is theirs. We collect it on their behalf and we run the refund process, so in practice you deal with us and the money comes back to you from us.
Where an organizer refuses to cancel or refund an event that plainly did not happen, we will refund you out of money we are holding for that organizer, and recover it from them. Where we hold no money for them, we will tell you honestly and give you their registered details so you can pursue it. This is the one situation where being a marketplace rather than the seller genuinely matters to you, and we would rather say so here than at the time.
10. If you are not satisfied
Escalate to our Grievance Officer, Arpan Roy Chowdhury, at arpan@shindigs.cc or +91 98049 33234. Complaints are acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within 30 days.
