Cookie Policy

Shindigs sets a small number of cookies, all of them our own. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking software on this site, and no advertising network, data broker or social network can read anything we set.

The complete list is in section 2. There is nothing hidden behind it.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and send back on your next visit. It is how a site remembers that you are signed in between one page and the next, because otherwise every page would be a stranger meeting you for the first time.

2. Every cookie we set

`sb-att`	Keeps you signed in as a ticket buyer. Set when you sign in; removed when you sign out.	Until you sign out or it expires
`sb-org`	Keeps you signed in to the organizer console. Deliberately confined to the organizer site — your browser will not send it anywhere else.	Until you sign out or it expires
`sb-adm`	Keeps an administrator signed in to the admin site. Confined to that site only.	Until sign-out or expiry
`shindig_door`	Given to door staff when they unlock the scanner with an event's door code. It carries one event and nothing about a person.	Expires when that event ends
`sd_surface`	A flag saying an organizer session exists in this browser, so the buyer sign-in page can warn you rather than sign you into two places at once. Carries no value, no identifier and no session.	Until the browser is closed
`sd_end_org`	A one-time marker used to finish signing you out of the organizer console from a different address. Deleted the moment it is used.	Until it is used

Every one of these is set by us, on our own domain. None of them is used to build a profile of you, to follow you to another site, or to sell anything to anybody.

3. Other browser storage

Your conversation with Elf, our event-finding chat, is stored in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, so that reloading the page does not lose your place. It is stamped with the date and deleted automatically at midnight India time, and the “Start over” button clears it immediately. It never reaches our servers as a stored record — see the Privacy Policy for what does happen to the text you type.

4. Why there is no cookie banner

Because there is nothing to consent to. Consent banners exist so you can refuse tracking and advertising cookies. We do not set any.

Every cookie in the table above is strictly necessary — you cannot sign in, buy a ticket or work a door without them — or a preference you set yourself, which is only stored because you chose it.
There is no analytics on this site. We do not run Google Analytics or any equivalent, and we do not measure you.
There are no advertising or social pixels, and nothing here is shared with an ad network.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules, there is no requirement for the prior-consent banner familiar from European sites.

A banner asking permission for cookies you cannot refuse without breaking sign-in would be theatre, and it would slow every first page load down to perform it. If we ever add anything that genuinely needs consent, we will ask properly and this page will change first.

5. Third-party scripts

Two third-party scripts run on this site, both only where they are needed:

Google Identity Services, on the sign-in page, so you can sign in with a Google account. It runs only if you open that page, and Google may set its own cookies under its own policy when you use it.
Cashfree Payments, at checkout, to take you to the payment page. It loads only when you press the button to pay.

Neither is loaded on ordinary browsing pages, and neither is used for analytics or advertising here.

6. Controlling cookies yourself

Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies in its settings. You are free to block ours — but blocking the sign-in cookies means you will not be able to stay signed in, see your tickets, or run a door, because those cookies are how those things work at all.
